Record of Joseph Stapley's admission to the Richmond Workhouse, in the Creed Register of the workhouse for 1 December 1893. Stapley, at 80, is the oldest of the five paupers admitted on this day. The oher four were discharged within six months, but Stapley remained in the workhouse for twelve years, until his death in 1905 at the age of 92.
