Roentgen made a number of photographic prints of this radiograph and mailed them to colleagues across Europe. They were simply labelled ‘Hand mit Ringen' (hand with ring). This particular print was received by the British physicist, Sir Arthur Schuster (1851-1934) along with an offprint of his article reporting the discovery.
