Prince Leopold of Battenberg (later Mountbatten)

Prince Leopold was the son of Prince Henry of Battenberg and Princess Beatrice, youngest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was born at Windsor Castle 21st May 1889 and died, unmarried, at Kensington Palace 23rd April 1922.

This photograph comes from an album presented to the Mayor of Richmond, H. Courlander, by Mr W. S. Stuart in 1947. The Stuart family had a photographic business in Richmond for many years and was appointed Royal Photographers. The album contains portraits of many of the crowned heads of Europe, including Queen Victoria.
