Radiotherapy with laser beam alignment A young child with its head fixed in a plastic mould, is undergoing laser alignment prior to electron beam radiotherapy. The tumour being treated is a retinoblastoma, a cancer affecting the retina at the back of the eye. It occurs in about one in 20,000 births and may sometimes be hereditary. With modern methods of treatment, the survival rate is over 90%.
