Artist's impression of how the Roman amphitheatre at Cirencester may have looked in the 2nd century AD (drawing by Ivan Lapper).

Cirencester Roman amphitheatre is in the care of English Heritage and is managed by Cotswold District Council.

Access to the amphitheatre is free of charge.

The entrance to the amphitheatre is situated in Cotswold Avenue, on the south side of the town. Parking at the site is limited. Should visitors decide to go to the site by motor vehicle, we would ask them to respect the residents of the area by parking considerately. The nearest car parks are within ten minutes walk of the amphitheatre.

The site is a scheduled ancient monument. It is an offence to use metal detectors or damage the site in any way. Care should be taken at all times when visiting the amphitheatre.

Due to the nature of the site there is very limited wheelchair access.

Due to a major redevelopment the Corinium Museum will be closed to the public until Spring 2004. For further details please visit our website.
