16th Century Warship A simple depiction of a late 16th or early 17th century Spanish man-of-war, similar to those that sailed with the Armada of 1588.

By this time, there were strict guidelines (in the form of written treatises) for shipbuilders to follow. The drawing shown here incorporates certain basic details of warships for this period. It includes a measurement of its length and the different types of guns that it carried such as culverins and demi-culverins.
