The White Book of Rhydderch is a mid-fourteenth century manuscript now bound in two volumes, Peniarth MSS 4 and 5, believed to have been connected with the Cistercian monastery of Strata Florida. The first volume contains the texts of the Mabinogion tales, while most of the texts in Peniarth 5 are of a religious nature. Shown here is the first folio of Penarth 4 with the beginning of 'Pwyll, Prince of Dyfed', the first branch of the Mabinogion.
