Articles are contributed to HistoryWorld by our partners – museums, galleries, libraries, archives, heritage sites, historic houses, learned societies and local history societies. They provide more specialized material than the core content of HistoryWorld, and they link to that core for background information.

Articles link to the rest of HistoryWorld by means of the Index. If a word in article has an asterisk before it, a click will bring up the Index entries for that word. This enables you to see at a glance what else there is on the site on this topic, and to select for yourself the most appropriate link.
