Elizabeth Woodville
|
|
(1437–92) Queen of *Edward IV. The marriage caused offence at the Yorkist court, particularly to *Warwick the Kingmaker, because her family, now heaped with wealth and favours, had previously been Lancastrian supporters. Her two sons by Edward, the *princes in the Tower, are assumed to have been murdered soon after their father's death. But her descendants continued on the throne through the marriage of her daughter, Elizabeth, to *Henry VII.
