(London Weekend 1970–5) Television series making excellent period drama out of the rigid class divisions upstairs and downstairs in a rich London household, that of the Bellamy family, in the first decades of the 20C. The downstairs characters became the most firmly established – in particular Hudson the butler (played by Gordon Jackson), Mrs Bridges the housekeeper (Angela Baddeley) and Rose, one of the housemaids (Jean Marsh, who was also partly responsible for the concept of the series).
