Things to Come
|
|
(1936) Massive visionary and cautionary film, produced by Alexander *Korda and based on a text by H.G. *Wells (something between a film script and a novel), which had been published in 1933 as The Shape of Things to Come. The film is set in Everytown and foresees a war in 1940, followed by plague and rebellion and the emergence of a new type of society which sends rockets to the moon but is rigidly divided by class. The music was by *Bliss.
