Six Nations tournament
|
|
Annual round of international matches in *rugby union football between England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy. The four British nations competed against each other from 1883, France joined in 1910 and Italy in 2000. Each nation plays each of the others once in the season, and the tournament is won on points. But two forms of outright win are hotly contested: the internal triple crown when one of the British teams beats the other three; and the grand slam, when one nation beats all the rest.
