(1831–1912) The leading architect in the late-19C revival of redbrick domestic architecture, in a style which became known as *Queen Anne. He designed country houses and many large town houses in London, but his single best-known work is the first New *Scotland Yard, occupied by the London's metropolitan police from 1890 to 1967. It is now known as the Norman Shaw Building and provides offices for members of parliament.
