Historically the more usual form of the word 'Scottish', both in England and Scotland. A more recent tradition in Scotland is that the word should only be used of Scotch whisky. Scottish is now considered the only proper adjective for anything else from Scotland, and 'the Scots' the correct term for the people themselves.
