House of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha
|
|
(1901–1917) The name until World War I of the present ruling family in Britain. It was the royal house of *Albert, prince consort of Queen *Victoria, and therefore also of his eldest son, *Edward VII, and of his grandson, *George V. But anti-German feelings caused George V in 1917 to change the name of the royal house to *Windsor.
