St James's Park

(London SW1)
Extensive landscaped gardens in front of Buckingham Palace, running almost the entire length of the Mall. This has always been the nearest open space to the royal palaces of central London, whether Whitehall, St James's or Buckingham. Since the reign of Charles II there has been a lake, as now, with a great variety of waterfowl.
