St Dunstan's
|
|
(London W1) Charity for blind ex-service men and women founded in 1915 by Arthur Pearson (1866–1921), who was himself blind. The name was that of the first hostel, St Dunstan's House in Regent's Park, so called because it had in the grounds a great clock, with two giants striking the hours, which had come from the church of St Dunstan-in-the-West in Fleet Street (it was returned there in 1935).
