Pitcairn Islands

Group of small islands in the Pacific, halfway between New Zealand and Panama, which are a British dependent territory. The only inhabited island, Pitcairn, is a fertile volcanic rock about 5sq.km/1.9sq.m in size. It was settled in 1790 by Fletcher *Christian and other mutineers from the Bounty. The community now consists of about 50 people.
