Queen's Park

, known as the Spiders (Hampden Park, Glasgow). Scotland's oldest football club, founded in 1867. It played in the first years of the *FA Cup and was the moving spirit in founding the *Scottish FA Cup, which it won for the first three years (and ten times in all by 1893). The club won no more major trophies for it kept resolutely to its amateur status, but it was champion of the Scottish 2nd division in 1923, 1956 and 1981. The club's ground, *Hampden Park, is Scotland's national stadium.
