Prince Consort
|
|
Title conferred on Prince *Albert by Victoria in 1857. It was of importance in terms of precedence, making him first in rank after herself and of a corresponding position in relation to foreign royalty. The title has not been conferred on the only other husband of a queen in recent history, the duke of Edinburgh.
