Pot Black
|
|
(BBC 1969–86) The programme which first showed *snooker on television and thus transformed the game from a minority pursuit to one of the nation's most popular sports. In the 15-minute Pot Black programmes the competitors won or lost on a single frame – considered an unacceptable lottery in the modern era of multi-frame duels lasting several hours. The first Pot Black champion, in 1969, was Ray Reardon.
