Morgan
|
|
The most eccentric sports car available in Britain, with the company's basic model holding the world record for the longest production period; the Morgan 4/4 was first marketed in 1935 and there is still a waiting list of several years for a new one. It was the first four-wheel car produced by the company, previously well known for its racing three-wheelers. The original Morgan was developed in 1908–9 in the school workshops of Malvern College, where the engineering master and H.F.S. Morgan together produced a three-wheeler design which remained in production, little changed, until 1950. All Morgan cars (the 4/4 has more powerful stablemates, the Plus 4 and Plus 8) are made with a wooden frame, of ash.
