The Owl and the Pussy-Cat
|
|
(1871) The first and probably the best known of the nonsense songs by Edward *Lear. The two characters go to sea in a beautiful pea-green boat (with honey and plenty of money, wrapped up in a five-pound note). After some musical courtship they buy the ring in a pig's nose and get married by a turkey, before eating mince and slices of quince with a runcible spoon.
