Old Mother Hubbard
|
|
Nursery rhyme about Mother Hubbard's shopping expeditions to buy food and clothes for her very eccentric dog. The nonsense verses were first published in 1805 and were credited to Sarah Catherine Martin (1768–1826), but it is not known whether she was adapting existing verses or writing entirely new ones. Mother Hubbard herself was already a popular character in the 16C.
