, known as the Magpies (County Ground, Meadow Lane, Nottingham). The oldest professional football club in Britain. It existed on an informal basis from 1862 and was established in 1864, as the Notts Football Club. It was a founder member of the *Football League in 1888, but was in Division 2 by 1893 and has spent most of its history out of the top division.
