|
|
(1868) Novel by Wilkie *Collins, first published as a serial in All the Year Round, which is an important early example of detective fiction. The moonstone is a huge diamond. Stolen originally from an Indian temple, it disappears after being given to an English girl, Rachel Verinder, on her 18th birthday. A complex chain of events is unravelled with the help of a detective from London, Sergeant Cuff.
