St Ninian
|
|
(c.360–c.432) A somewhat shadowy figure with a claim to have long preceded St *Columba as a missionary in western Scotland. According to *Bede he was a Briton who was instructed in Rome and returned to build a church which became known as Candida Casa (the white house), because it was built of stone. It has traditionally been identified as *Whithorn. His feast day is September 16.
