National Youth Theatre

Organization founded in the East End of London in 1956 by Michael Croft (1922–88), with the purpose of involving young people, between the ages of 14 and 21, in theatrical productions of a high standard. Members of the company are selected by an audition process which begins in 13 cities around the country. Performances are given in London each summer and the NYT has toured as far afield as New York and Moscow.
