Monday Club
|
|
Political pressure group formed in 1961 to assert 'traditional conservative values'. In addition to the uncontroversial themes of family, monarchy and Christianity, there was an assertion of empire, opposition to immigration and rejection of a multi-racial society (the club was to some extent a reaction to the success of the *Bow Group in spreading more liberal attitudes on these issues). Meetings were originally held on Mondays.
