Motor Show
|
|
Britain's most important display of the latest models of cars and commercial vehicles. The exhibition is presented by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, a trade organization founded in 1902. It put on its first Motor Show in 1903 at *Crystal Palace, and moved the event in 1905 to *Olympia; as more space was needed the location subsequently changed to *Earl's Court in 1937 and to the *National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in 1978. From that year it became biennial instead of annual. It takes place in October (apart from a 1990 experiment with September). In 1993 there was a London Motor Show, held again at Earl's Court.
