Mensa
|
|
Social organization founded in Oxford in 1946 by two barristers, restricting its membership to those with an IQ equal to the top 2% of the population. The society grew rapidly from the 1960s in the USA, and in the early 1990s has about 100,000 members world wide. The name (Latin for table) was chosen to reflect Mensa's *'round table' nature, composed of equal members without a hierarchy.
