Four Maries
|
|
(also known as the Queen's Maries) Four Scottish girls, all about the same age as the 6-year-old queen, who were the chief companions of *Mary Queen of Scots when she went to France in 1548. Of the four (Mary Fleming, Mary Seton, Mary Beaton and Mary Livingston), it was Mary Seton who remained longest with the queen. She was still with her, in captivity in England, 35 years later.
