(19km/12m W of London)
Palladian villa built on the north bank of the Thames in 1723–9 for Henrietta Howard, later the countess of Suffolk, who was the mistress of the future *George II. The original design was probably by Colen *Campbell, adapted by Lord Herbert (1693–1751) and Roger Morris (1695–1749).
