|
(1900–60, kt 1947) Plastic surgeon, born in New Zealand, known for his magnificent work on airmen who were severely burned in *World War II. His base was the tiny Queen Victoria Hospital at East Grinstead in Sussex, which he built up into a major centre for plastic surgery. His grateful patients formed a club, McIndoe's Guinea Pigs, which continued to meet annually after the war.
