|
(55,000 in 1991) Town in Warwickshire, on the river Leam, with chalybeate and saline springs which made it, from the late 18C, a fashionable place to take the waters. The Parade dates from 1810–30 and the Royal Pump Room was opened in 1814 (restored 1953). Queen Victoria, visiting in 1838, designated it a royal spa.
