(John Claudius, 1783–1843, m. 1830 Jane Webb, 1807–58) Horticultural authors who did much to promote Victorian interest in gardening. His most important work, which he published himself and which bankrupted him, was Arboretum et Fruticetum Britannicum (8 vols, 1838); and she was best known for The Ladies' companion to the flower garden (1841).
