Little Moreton Hall
|
|
(14km/9m N of Stoke-on-Trent) The most spectacular of Britain's *timber-frame houses. Begun in about 1450 for Richard de Moreton, it was added to piecemeal until the early 17C but has not been altered since. The irregularity of its constituent parts is enhanced by a wonderful range of decorative patterns, both in the exterior timbers and in the leading of the windows.
