Land's End
|
|
Low granite promontory in Cornwall which is the most westerly point of England (the most southerly is the *Lizard, and the most westerly in mainland Britain is Scotland's Ardnamurchan Point). The dangerous reefs which continue out from it into the Atlantic are marked by the Longships lighthouse. Land's End to *John o'Groats is used as a phrase to mean the length and breadth of the land.
