(Hen Wlad fy Nhadau in Welsh) Song, with words by Evan James (1809–78) and tune believed to be by his son James James (1833–1902), which was published in 1860 and has become the national anthem of Wales. The last line of the refrain states a theme of great importance to many in Wales today: O bydded i'r heniaith barhau (O may the old language endure).
