Children's publisher, known in particular for its small or 'pocket-sized' books, first produced in 1940. With an emphasis on learning to read, most of the firm's numerous titles are aimed at the 3–8 age group. The enterprise was developed by small commercial printers in Leicestershire, Wills & Hepworth, who in World War I began to produce picture books for children under the name Ladybird.
