(1901) Novel by *Kipling about a small boy, Kimball O'Hara, son of a sergeant in the British army, who is brought up by a half-caste woman after the death of his parents. Soon more at ease in the bazaar than among the British, he is perfectly placed to play a central role in a story of spying between the two communities. As well as being an exciting story, the book is rich in the details familiar to Kipling from his years in India as child and journalist.
