Loch Katrine
|
|
Lake in the Central region of Scotland which became a major tourist attraction after the success of Scott's The *Lady of the Lake. Ellen's Isle is named after the heroine of the poem, Ellen Douglas. A steamer built in 1900 and called Sir Walter Scott now cruises the lake. The Trossachs, often applied to the entire scenic area around the lake, is more precisely the name of the narrow wooded valley at its southeast end, leading to Loch Achray.
