Jimmy's
|
|
(St James's Hospital, Leeds) The largest hospital in the country, widely known by its popular local name because of the Yorkshire TV documentary series, Jimmy's, filmed in its wards and following case histories of the patients. The oldest building on the 50-acre site dates from 1846 and was the school of the Leeds Union Workhouse. The workhouse later concentrated on medical treatment and became the Poor Law Infirmary, which in 1925 was renamed St James's Hospital.
