Gerard Hoffnung
|
|
(1925–1959) German-born tuba player and illustrator, in Britain from childhood. He established a double reputation, as a cartoonist (often with musical subjects as the basis for his humour) and as an organizer of humorous concerts, specializing in musical parody; in these he extended the range of instruments to include such items as watering cans and a length of garden hose (played by no less a musician than Dennis *Brain).
