Hill House
|
|
(Helensburgh, 37km/23m NW of Glasgow) The largest and most complete surviving house by Charles Rennie *Mackintosh. Commissioned in 1902 by the publisher Walter Blackie, the exterior is in the Scottish tradition of turrets and harled surfaces (with just a hint of modernism in the placing of the windows). But the interiors, down to the tiniest details of decoration and furniture, are a clear and unified statement of the Mackintosh style.
