Hidcote Manor Garden
|
|
(16km/10m S of Stratford-upon-Avon) Garden created by Lawrence Johnston between 1907 and 1948, round a stone Cotswold manor house. His originality (much copied since) was to divide the area into about 20 'rooms' of different sizes and shapes, separated by a wide variety of hedges, each of which could be planted with its own colour or character, ranging from the formal to the pleasing turmoil of a cottage garden.
