William Hazlitt
|
|
(1778–1830) Literary critic and essayist, capable of treating a serious critical argument with the same informality of tone as he applied, for example, to 'The Fight', his famous account of a boxing match at Hungerford. Table Talk (1821), The Spirit of the Age (1825) and The Plain Speaker (1826) contain most of his best-known essays.
