Hatchard's
|
|
(London W1) Bookshop which has been a feature of Piccadilly ever since John Hatchard (1769–1849) founded it in 1797. In its early years it was more like a club, a place where gentlemen would read the newspapers and browse among the latest publications. After Hatchard's death it was run by his son Thomas, but it has long ceased to be a family firm.
