Scottish *public school near Elgin, until 1972 for boys only, founded in 1934 by Kurt Hahn (1886–1974) with a special commitment to building character (through a strict regime in Spartan conditions) as well as training the intellect. Its best known pupils have been the duke of Edinburgh and the prince of Wales.
