Good Food Guide
|
|
Restaurant guide of an unusual kind in that it is written by the customers. It was launched in 1949 by Raymond Postgate (1896–1971), using a team of volunteers. Once the guide was published, every purchaser became automatically a member of a notional Good Food Club. Members can send in reports of meals eaten or restaurants discovered, and their comments may be quoted verbatim in the next annual edition after being checked by a team of specialist inspectors. Since 1963 the guide has been published by the Consumers' Association (see *Which?).
